There have been many reports in the recent times in China that melamine tableware can cause cancer. A lot of tests and investigations are said to be going on, but no firm plans have yet been revealed for solving this problem. The good news is that the biggest sellers of melamine tableware appear to be using safe sources of it that do fall within acceptable levels in China.
There isn’t any news of these items finding their way beyond China at this point, so there is no cause for alarm elsewhere in the world. Although, if anyone is unsure or worried about the risks, they should ideally find out where their tableware has been made and stop using it if unsure.
You would assume that nothing unsafe is ever used in tableware. After all, most of it seems very unassuming and basic for what it is intended for. But, as this example has shown, it doesn’t always happen that way. Hopefully, this problem will be solved very soon and the unscrupulous people who are using harmful substance in the manufacture of melamine tableware in China will be stopped from producing any more items. Suitable punishment will also be meted out, we hope. If you are highly suspicious, then it is better that you stop using melamine tableware and start using alternate kinds of tableware.
